Due to the current restrictions in Victoria we are offering full refunds to any of our guests who are unable to travel to Halls Gap due to COVID restrictions.
We would certainly welcome you rebooking at a later date to secure your holiday.
Other Important News and Update.
Royston Lodge suffered some damage from a fallen tree on 19 July. The damage is to the north verandah roof. The main part of the building is unaffected.
We have been assured the site is secure and safe, and the house roof is not leaking. We are currently arranging repairs but this may take some time. If you have an upcoming booking with us, please feel free to contact us for more information.
Wi-fi: due to a forced change of ISP and extreme difficulty of getting the network provider (Telstra) to switch over our connection, we currently have no ADSL service at Royston Lodge. We are doing everything we can to resolve this quickly (we have an open case with the Ombudsman). 4G reception for your phone is available with Telstra. Please contact us for an updated status.
TV: we recently received a complaint about the lack of free-to-air TV service at our house. We are always disappointed when Royston Lodge does not meet your expectations and strive to cover all requirements. However, the secluded Halls Gap valley does not have good line-of-sight to any TV towers and we have never had TV reception since we bought the property in 2014. You can use the network’s streaming services (but see note above) and of course play anything from our extensive in-house video library.
Royston Lodge offers self-catered, dog-friendly accommodation in Halls Gap, The Grampians (Gariwerd), western Victoria, Australia.
The house lies on 3200m2 of land in a quiet side-street, near the cycle track and 1.3km south of the main shopping area of Halls Gap. Walk to shops and restaurants, or rent a bike and get around town easily.
The house has 3 bedrooms and can sleep up to 10 people. It has a fully equipped kitchen with espresso machine, dishwasher, gas stovetop, electric oven. microwave and a full size refrigerator/freezer. The kitchen is stocked with basics such as salt, pepper, oils and spices, plus a range of kitchen appliances.
Free wi-fi is included in the house for guests to use. We have had a number of questions about wi-fi performance during times of lockdown. We get around 11mbps download rate from our ADSL service, and have successfully run two Zoom sessions concurrently, so we have found this works well.
The lounge has a large flat-screen TV, DVD/blu-ray player and sound bar. Sofa seating is provided, comfortable for 7 people. The lounge also has a wood-stove and firewood is provided.
The house has an air-conditioner and ceiling fans in the lounge and one bedroom.
A large east-facing deck is a perfect place to enjoy breakfast while watching the birds and wildlife. A new gas BBQ is provided, and outdoor seating for a large group.
Bedroom configuration is:
1) Queen bed
2) single bunks plus a king single bed
3) queen bed plus walk-in wardrobe
Two fold-flat sofas accommodates three more in the lounge if needed.
Linen can be provided on request.
